Thomas Lau Christensen, Enterprise Risk Manager at Chr. Hansen Holding
Why is participating to the European Risk Management Seminar important to you?
For me, the opportunity to learn from fellow risk managers, get ideas to smarter, perhaps new, methods and methodologies is essential, as it allows me to further advance as an Enterprise Risk Manager. The network amongst member of FERMA is also something I value strongly, in prioritization of my time.
Why is the theme “Corporate Risk & Finance: how to finance the ever growing universe of risk?” relevant in today’s fast-paced world?
I believe Covid-19 has proven the point; Pandemic – a risk most organization was not prepared for – in terms of business continuity and financial impact. Taking a broad mind when considering risks, I believe is one learning, from a risk perspective.
You will be presenting ” Reconciling ERM and Insurance: getting the best of both world”, what would you like the audience to remember after your session?
In many organization, there is a definitive split between insurance and enterprise risk management. However, there is a natural partnership between the two. I hope the audience will take some easy action points “to go”, understanding how insurance supports the management of enterprise risks, as well as how enterprise risk needs insurance to mitigate the risks.
How will the role and responsibilities of the European risk managers evolve in order to achieve the green and digital transition?
It is a change of environment, where we need to ensure focus on those risks that accompany this change.
