Pentti TOFTE
Pentti Tofte is staff senior vice president, data analytics at FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial property insurers.
He is responsible for shaping and implementing the company’s analytics strategy and oversees teams of data scientists, data engineers and analysts who harness the power of data to estimate climate risk and predict where and how large industrial losses will occur.
His team also produces the FM Global Resilience Index, an annually updated online tool that ranks the resilience of 130 countries’ and territories’ business environments.
Tofte joined the company in 2003 as a loss prevention consultant engineer in FM Global’s Los Angeles operations, advising Fortune 1000-size organizations to help build their business resilience.
Later he transitioned into account management working with ‘high challenge’ businesses, including many in the power generation industry. Prior to his current role, he was vice president, reinsurance and aggregations.
Tofte holds a Master of Science degree in Chemical Engineering from the Technical University of Denmark and studied at University of Illinois as a Fulbright scholar.
