Cormac MC GARRY
Cormac’s primary responsibility is to head Control Risks’ maritime intelligence and security services while also providing strategic geopolitical advisory to senior level clients on issues such as supply chain logistics and emerging risk. He is part of a globally focused team working on international and supranational issues. Cormac bridges between analysis and operations, being both an analyst and a security consultant that helps clients through the spectrum of risk management. Some work Cormac has completed includes:
- Developing new additions to the risk register of an advanced Enterprise Risk Management team at a global logistics provider, by identifying drivers and three scenarios for emerging risks to the company.
- Expert Witness in arbitration between owners and insurers regarding assets trapped in Ukraine.
- Advised war risk underwriters and ship owners of geopolitical threats to shipping during the establishment of the Black Sea Grain Initiative
Prior to joining Control Risks, Cormac was an Operations Manager in East Africa coordinating land-based close protection, crisis response and special investigations. Cormac also worked at the National Maritime College of Ireland, managing applied research projects with the Irish Naval Service and the broader European maritime community and served in the Irish Reserve Defence Forces as an NCO and artillery Gun Commander.
